April 2025
Annie prepared a cute Easter project for the meeting this month. We all completed an Easter Egg ornament in either pink or blue fabrics and trimmings. Thank you Annie, we all had fun.
Show and Tell
Annie: Apart from her beautiful table display of talking rabbits and easter decorations she showed brightly coloured strip pieced egg shapes that she asked for ideas how to finish off neatly and make into bunting. She was appreciative for all suggestions.
Sue: Lorraine had bought me a lovely casserole holder from the CWA stall. It was different to one I had previously admired that she owned but it certainly does the job, and I see a potential workshop!
Viive showed a large cot quilt made by herself and me on the previous Friday. We used a Japanese animal fabric that I had purchased in Japan.
Janice and Fiona: Janice has made two more quilts, one a cot quilt and another a quilt for Daniel from blue fabric purchased at Patchwork on Pittwater last year. Fiona is keeping Janice terribly busy!
Carmel: Viive, Sue, Annie and Carmel attended the Ovarian Cancer Fundraiser at Wenty Leagues. A quilt raffled off in memory of Marie Leahy who has attended previous weekends away with us. Unfortunately, she passed away last year. The quilt donated in the name of CQI raised $300 on the day. Total raised was $22,000, which was phenomenal! Also, Carmel attended the Sunday Charity Race “Run for a Cure” to raise funds for Neuroblastoma. She has a personal connection to this case as her 3 yr. old great niece passed away a few years ago from this terrible cancer.
Jill: has attended a trading day selling alpaca yarns. There is a “Biggest Morning Tea” at the Epping Creative Centre on Monday 19 th May, run by the Knitting Guild and there are raffles. All welcome! Also, Epping Weavers, Embroiderers and Spinners are holding a sale of textiles, yarns and knitted objects on May 23rd, 24th, and 25 th at Dence park, Epping Rd. There is also “Fibre Frolic Festival”, on May 4 th at Winbourne, 1315 Mulgoa Rd, Mulgoa.
Kim: Showed a completed BOM (Fairies in my Garden) from 2009! Beautiful, gentle pink, and green fabric with an embroidered centre. She custom quilted it for a stunning result! Also, NSW Historical Society asked her to participate in making a replicate quilt. The fabric sourced in Paris was $450 per metre and it is the last 12m in the world!
Julie-Ann: Showed two cute Easter wall quilts she had made for hanging in her home. The grand children love all her quilts!
